As we count down the days to the RA Open 2025—happening May 23–25 at the RA Tennis Academy in Cala Millor—players and fans alike are gearing up for a weekend of thrilling matches and family-friendly excitement. To help everyone prepare, here’s a detailed look at the tournament rules and match format that make the RA Open both unique and accessible to all levels.

Categories for All Ages & Skills

One of the hallmarks of the RA Open is that it is for everyone! The tournament is proudly open to all, whether you’re picking up a racquet for the first time or you’ve been playing competitively for years.

The event is divided into the following categories:

  • Benjamin (8–9 years)

  • Alevin (10–11 years)

  • Infantil (12–13 years)

  • 15+ Adults – Beginner/Intermediate

  • Pro+ Adults – Advanced/Expert

  • Seniors (50+)

This structure ensures fair play and a great experience for everyone involved, from rising stars to seasoned players.

🏆 Tournament Format: Fair Play, Maximum Fun

The RA Open’s format is designed to give players plenty of time on court while keeping the competition exciting and dynamic.

🔄 Group Stage – Round Robin Format

  • All players are placed into groups of 4. (depending on number of participants)

  • Each participant plays a minimum of 3 matches, one against every other player in their group.

  • The top players from each group advance to the knockout stage based on match results.

This format ensures everyone gets multiple chances to play, regardless of early outcomes—a big part of what makes the RA Open so rewarding.

🎾 Match Rules: Fast, Fair, and Competitive

Each match follows a clear, fast-paced structure that keeps things moving while still offering plenty of opportunity for strategy and skill:

  • Best of 3 Sets

    • Each set is played to 4 games (instead of the usual 6).

    • At 3-3, a 5-point tiebreak decides the set.

  • Golden Point Rule

    • At deuce (40-40), the next point wins the game—no advantage scoring. This keeps matches exciting and reduces wait time.

This quick-play style creates high-stakes moments, keeps spectators engaged, and allows the tournament to run smoothly across the weekend.
