From May 23–25, Cala Millor’s RA Tennis Academy & Club hosted the latest edition of the RA Open, drawing a diverse mix of tennis players and spectators for a high-energy, community-driven tournament that celebrated both sport and spirit. With over 176 matches played in the dynamic FAST4 format, the event offered a weekend of nonstop tennis action for all ages and levels.
🎾 A Format Built for Excitement
The RA Open featured categories ranging from Benjamín (U9) and Alevín (U11) to 15+ Adult Men and Women categories, Pro+ Advanced Players, and Seniors (50+). Matches were played in a round-robin group stage, ensuring each participant got ample match experience before progressing to the elimination rounds.
With short sets to 4 games, tiebreaks at 3–3, and the no-advantage “golden point” rule, the FAST4 structure delivered fast-paced, high-intensity tennis. Spectators were treated to a constant stream of tightly contested matches and standout performances across the board.
📅 A Weekend Full of Activity
The tournament kicked off Friday afternoon and ran late into the evening, before continuing with a full day of matches on Saturday and concluding with the semi-finals and finals on Sunday morning.
Each day brought together dozens of supporters, families, and friends, creating a buzzing atmosphere around the courts. As the finals wrapped up on Sunday, the energy culminated in a heartfelt award ceremony, where finalists received trophies and exclusive Diadem tennis gear, thanks to the event’s official sponsor, Diadem.
🍔 Food, Music & More
The RA Open wasn’t just about tennis—it was a weekend experience. Royal Burger was on-site providing food, with plenty of refreshments and music creating a relaxed, family-friendly vibe. Spectators could enjoy great tennis while sharing meals and moments with their community.
Alongside the tennis, a paddle tennis tournament ran through Saturday, further energizing the facility and drawing in participants from across the island. With both sports in full swing, there was always something exciting happening at the academy.
📊 Real-Time Stats & Technology Integration
One of the standout features of this year’s event was the technology-driven setup. A live TV dashboard displayed real-time scores, group rankings, and upcoming match schedules. Much of the match reporting and draws were automated, keeping both players and fans well-informed and engaged throughout the weekend.
